Do physicians and health and nutrition authorities consider popcorn is a valuable food?

Popcorn is a useful foodstuff that helps in digestion by providing additional levels due to increased volume in the digestive system. It has been known as one of the foodstuffs with a high fiber content. The Health and Treatment Society, the National Dentists Institute and the American Head and Neck Research Institute consider popcorn as a good midday food supplement with low sugar, fat and calorie content.

Associations such as the NCI (National Cancer Institute), the US Federal Department for Cancer Control and Prevention and the US Nutrition and Diet Therapy Society recommend taking fiber in the diet for reducing the risk of some types of cancer, esp. the large intestine cancer. Popcorn is a foodstuff with a high percentage of fiber and is included in “10 Basic Methods to Increase Receipt of Fiber”.

The Diabetes Society and the US Diet Therapy Society allow popcorn to be used for individuals that have a weight control diet and have advised its use in various diets for hyperactive children.
